Wendy Marsh

Director

Wendy Marsh is an Ontario educator, researcher, and visual artist whose career spans more than four decades in education and the arts. She is a Registered Early Childhood Educator and is a member of the Ontario College of Teachers.

Wendy has taught across early childhood, elementary, and secondary settings, with experience in Special Education, Library, Technology, and Cooperative Education, and holds Honour Specialist designations in Visual Arts, Family Studies and has completed the Principal Qualification Program. She retired from classroom teaching in 2019.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Wendy tutored her grandson through virtual junior kindergarten and taught him to read. The experience prompted a particular interest in the mechanics of virtual teaching and the ways educators adapted their practice to an online environment. She is currently completing a Master of Arts in Education at Ontario Tech University. Her scholarly work examines the relationship among childhood adversity, positive childhood experiences, and trauma-informed teaching practice through memory and arts-based research.

Wendy works primarily in watercolour and ink on paper, creating illustrative compositions that combine narrative, recollections, and imaginative detail. Her longstanding involvement in the arts has included service as a Secretary and Board Member at the Humphrey Township Arts Council, the Seguin Arts Council, and the Toronto Watercolour Society. She is a founding Director of The Existential Art Gallery of Scarborough, where her experience in education, research, visual arts and organizational leadership contributes to the Gallery’s development and its commitment to the visual arts in Scarborough and beyond.
