Wherever I roam in France and Europe I am taking photos and sketching; both memories and compositions that I take back to my studio where my watercolours come to life. Watercolour is the most pleasurable medium where paint and paper are alive with interaction through risk and experience. For the artists and the viewer this is a cocktail of happiness, enhanced by the calligraphy of brushstrokes, where a lady once told me “I try to write the birds”. For me it is a combination of the medium and the vivacity and exuberance of the animal world, and life itself.
