The white age-appropriate hair in the comment for Joy’s self-portrait is confirmed here as Joy readies herself for a newspaper interview while posing on her front steps with her portrait of her Mum and Dad. More about the painting in later comments but note that even in a large piece like this the background is still deferred in favour of emphasizing the portraits.
