The strong bond which is illustrated here between mother and child is something that Joy would like to have enjoyed herself but the sorry detail is that didn’t work out for her personally, a sad fact that she personally notes in her life. The tender affection of mother and child shown here is likely the inspiration for this work and a settling of scores for her own particular fate in that regard. Which may sound a bit sharp and bitter as a description but the sad stories of disappointment are life changing for many and a struggle to overcome.
