I found Joy’s notes about her paintings to be a remarkable record of her feelings and intentions and reasons for painting her works. There is very little about his piece “This was a very shy little boy and I loved the squirrel on his sweater. He managed a smile when I admired it”. The squirrel does look great and she caught the smile very nicely. We have no idea who he was, but he may be getting a pension by now, or maybe be in grade eight.
