Joy said this about this painting on her facebook post, “I took a photograph of this little boy on one of my trips to South Africa many years ago. He was a playmate of my great niece when she was about the same age. After I returned home he became the subject of this portrait and was exhibited in an Art Guild Show. I didn’t have it for very long, however, because it was purchased right away by a lady who said it was the spitting image of a child she had adopted after his mother died. I hope that child has grown up to be a young man with a small child of his own by now.”
