People are always curious about what drives artists to creativity, and artists, including myself, often wonder about the same thing. For me creativity is a rather personal experience as opposed to painting for the satisfaction of somebody else, it is more a matter of making my little contribution to the continuous river of human expression. That is not to say that I do not have a number of personal objectives in what I create. When it comes to my painting, I am indeed very curious about how the mind perceives reality. Its fascinating. And seemingly unanswerable at the present time. While sticking to the time worn presupposition of fine artistic composition, and trying to meet those needs, I reduce reality to what it is not in most common aspects, in the hopes that the viewers mind will perceive what is hidden in my abstraction. How does it do that? What results is my own unique contribution to that continuous river, and the personal satisfaction that in each step I have made personal progress in exploring creativity. In the end, I put myself on the wall in the hopes that others will be led to a new perception of reality not often tested by the normal use of our vision. Each painting leads to another because no single piece is a cul-de-sac. Also, I have always painted landscapes for the pleasure of doing so, but, as you can tell, my creative thinking often has a much different intent. The emotional aspect comes with the pleasure of thinking and the effect of the piece on our senses.
