Born in Switzerland, raised in the U.S., Rudolf Stussi attended university in Ottawa (English, Journalism). Designing for British fringe theatre preceded the Ontario College of Art (including two years in Florence) and studies in Mexico and London.
President of the CSPWC, Stussi organised Canada’s national watercolour collection. He was artist-in-residence in the D.R. and at Canada’s McMichael Collection.
For fifteen years he worked in animation, supervising in Asia, art-directing Little Bear, Rolie-Polie-Olie and the film Heidi. Elected to the RCA, a monograph by Paul Duval appeared in 1998. Three children’s books followed, plus another monograph 'Askew' in 2014. He directed the Fine Arts Program at Centennial College in Toronto for 3 years. A volume of his Swiss paintings, 'Swiss Twist' was published in 2022, a book of his Berlin paintings ('Berlin Bent') will appear in 2024.
Stussi is known for his 5th perspective. He exhibits skewed cityscapes internationally (Berlin, Switzerland, Toronto) and has completed 12 murals. He now lives in Switzerland and Berlin.
